The Institute for Eastern Christian Studies is primarily dedicated to providing theological and ministerial formation and dialogue. We are presenting courses that will touch on all religions and we look for the common thread that subsists in each faith background that can lead people to God. Our courses are designed to be tailored for each participant so that they will more easily engage in the curriculum. We are located in White Bear Lake, Minnesota.
The courses that we have can be tailored to each individual. Generally speaking, we have courses that are three months, six months, and one-year programs.
We also provide housing, food, and transportation services.
As part of "rectory" style of living, the participants who reside in our housing follow a menu and prepare their own meals.
We are providing lodging (housing) for priests, nuns and seminarians who desire to be part of a religious community. We provide daily prayer and the Divine Liturgy on Sunday. We have a Catholic Community which allows you to enjoy your vocation in peace.
We have community living that provides homes for nuns to live in community. This is a great opportunity to have independent living and also connected to a greater religious community. Priests can live in community life or have a separate home that we provide with other priests.
The Divine Liturgy follows St. Basil the Great or St. John Chrysostom. The program is to teach seminarians and clergy members the history of the Divine Liturgy, how to properly say it, and all of the rituals that go with the Divine Liturgy. We teach students how to make the prosphora (bread for communion) and explain the vestments and sacred vessels that accompany the Eastern rite.
The Institute for Eastern Christian Studies is able to tailor make a program that assists a student at where there are today. We realize that many of the clergy and religious already have a deep understanding of the Church and our program compliments what they already understand and we help them to see the whole Church and "breathe" with both "lungs."

The Institute for Eastern Christian Studies provides dialogue and does not necessarily represent the position of each faculty member. We are creating conversation to look at some of the challenges that the Church has at this time.
