The Institute for Eastern Christian Studies strives to create a welcoming and inclusive community for all. Our mission, since we are an "oasis" that was established by Cardinal Slipyj, is to continue the dialogue with East and West so that one day we all may be One.
We continue to dialogue in person or through mass media to discuss the opportunities of bringing Church unity between Catholics, Orthodox and Protestants.
If we are striving for unity, we have to be able to dialogue with one another and this begins with conversations that are based on history and understanding and courage to move forward.
Throughout the last 50 years of dialogue and extensive research and study, the Institute for Eastern Christian Studies delivers the most comprehensive and accurate information about Christian Unity.
The Holy Scriptures are essential for preaching the Word of God and through the program at the Institute for Eastern Christian Studies, we help people understand how to use the bible to grow deeper in their faith.
To understand Church unity, we have to understand where authority comes in and who can interpret the Word of God. The Protestants take this upon their shoulders and we discuss this more in detail on how their understanding of the bible is a responsibility of the Church.
We take a look at the Sacraments that the Protestants accept and why they do not have seven Sacraments like the Catholics and Orthodox.
Understanding Protestants is nearly impossible to do without understanding Martin Luther. We go into extensive research to support Protestants in why they are Protestants.
There are many opportunities to discuss when trying to unite and some of these topics are:
* Easter Date
* Married Clergy
* Deaconesses
* Liturgies
* Patriarchs and Pope
* Local Customs
* Language challenges
* Different customs and calendars
